The Incredible Journey - Sheila Burnford

This book follows three pets: a young Labrador retriever, an old bull terrier, and a Siamese cat. Due to a miscommunication between their owner and his friend during a hunting trip, the animals are left alone for several hours. They soon set off on a journey to find home purely based on their insticts. They travel 400 kilometres across the Northern Ontario wilderness, facing many obstacles along the way. Separately they would not have survived, but together they are able to find their way home to the family they love.
